Calendar Reminder: Monday, April 13, half day for students (newly scheduled)
A message from Dr. Simmons: Monday, April 13, is now a newly scheduled half day for all students. This change is necessary for two reasons:
Today’s fog delay required us to shift from a planned half day to a full day. (For a school day to count toward the state-required 180 days, students must be in attendance for a minimum number of hours.)
We need a half day as soon as possible to complete end-of-quarter tasks, especially grading. This is not only part of our negotiated agreement with teachers; it is also essential for accurate grade reporting and preparing for the next quarter.
I know that last-minute changes to the school schedule can be challenging for families, and I truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Here’s hoping next school year gives us weather that’s a little less disruptive.

Friday, April 10 - Due to fog in the area, schools will be operating on a two hour delay. In addition, today will now be a full day of school rather than the originally scheduled half day. Please be safe in your travels.
Caroline Family volunteers were all smiles today at Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore! 💚✨ Our team—Mr. Marketto, Ms. Dorr, Dr. Simmons, Dr. Gray, Ms. Hall, and Ms. Barry—spent the day supporting JA’s powerful, hands‑on learning that inspires future entrepreneurs and responsible global citizens 🌍💡
And don’t panic… Dr. Simmons’ “Governor moment” was temporary 👀😂. He’ll be back in his superintendent seat tomorrow!

Our generous students strike again! NCHS juniors Brianna Canter and Della Sefton attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference for high school students, thanks to sponsorship from the Denton Rotary. While there, they helped pack food donation boxes and thoughtfully selected Ms. Joanna Reedy with Giving Grace Pantry in Goldsboro as the recipient of their donation. We’re proud to see our students giving back and putting leadership into action! 👏
