The Caroline County Council of the Arts (CCEA) and Music and Art teachers at the school recently joined together to produce Kaleidoscope, a celebration highlighting the creativity and talent of Caroline County Public School student musicians and artists.

According to Tom Cheezum, Band Director at Colonel Richardson High School, students from the Band, Orchestra, and Chorus programs — along with the combined CRMS/CRHS Jazz and Percussion Ensembles — made a big impact in Denton during the Kaleidoscope Arts Showcase.

The event, organized by Ridgely Elementary music teacher Ashley Weer, took place on 4th Street and at the Caroline County Courthouse. Her Kaleidoscope vocal ensemble included students from GES, RES, PES, FES, DES, CRMS, and CRHS and featured an impressive 170+ students singing together on the courthouse steps.

By the time everyone walked to the Foundry on 4th, the weather had started to turn but the CRHS Jazz Ensemble led by Mr. Cheezum still powered through swing standards and energetic rock charts to close out Jazz Appreciation Month.

After the rain passed, many CRMS and CRHS students taught by Mr. Cheezum, Ms. Bradley, Ms. McAllister, and Mr. Gwynn performed solo and ensemble pieces, along with Mr. Potter's and Ms. Remesch's students from Lockerman Middle school. The day wrapped up with Mr. Gwynn conducting the CRHS Percussion Ensemble, which used every percussion instrument the schools own (and there are photos proving they hauled all of them to the event!).

Inside the Foundry, artwork from Federalsburg, Greensboro, Preston and Ridgely Elementary Schools were displayed throughout the building. The event was packed with families and community all appreciating the impressive array of artwork.
