Work-Based Learning Continuum

Caroline County Public Schools Work-Based Learning Continuum is a framework designed to provide students with real world learning experiences. By joining together with local businesses and industries, we give students from elementary through high school a multitude of opportunities to learn about and experience the world of work. At the same time, businesses help drive innovation and growth in their industry, and build their future workforce.

How Do Students Benefit?

Work-based learning is critical for all students.

  • Younger students gain exposure to a variety of different fields and career paths, develop a basic understanding of work roles, build social skills through interaction with professionals, and start to think about future career possibilities which can help them make informed decisions later on in life.

  • Older students gain exposure to a variety of potential employers, learn about different career paths within their field of interest, practice networking skills, discover internship and job opportunities, and acquire insight into industry expectations.
