The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) released the 2026 Report Card data, including star ratings for individual schools and other resource information, on October 29. Preston Elementary School maintained their four-star status from last year. Colonel Richardson High School and Denton, Greensboro, and Ridgely Elementary Schools all showed significant improvement from last year, and moved into the four-star school status. Federalsburg Elementary School, Colonel Richardson Middle School, Lockerman Middle School and North Caroline High School all maintained their 2026 status of three stars.

“Our intentional focus on every student, every day continues to show positive results and keeps us moving in the right direction,” Superintendent Dr. Simmons said. “These results reflect the dedication, determination, and ongoing professional learning of our staff, who work tirelessly to meet the needs of every student.”

Maryland State Department of Education’s press release noted that half of all Maryland schools earned one of the top two star ratings, an increase of seven percentage points from 2025. Dr. Simmons added, “I am incredibly proud that Caroline, with all the economic challenges our community faces, contributed positively to that impressive statistic.”

The Report Card provides a comprehensive overview of school performance across various metrics, such as Academic Achievement, Academic Progress for elementary and middle schools, School Quality and Student Success, Graduation Rates, and College and Career Readiness for high schools. The results of the Maryland Report Card are one of many data points used to measure the success of our schools.

In addition, Caroline’s Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) results show growth in all areas. In particular:

  • Math: Caroline’s growth of +9.7 percentage points from 2022-2026 ranked third highest district in the state.

  • English Language Arts: Caroline’s growth of +9.9 percentage points from 2022-2026 ranked fourth highest district in the state.

  • Science & Social Studies: Caroline also showed positive gains in these two subject areas.

Caroline and Statewide results may be found on the Maryland Public Schools Report Card website.
