Kali Tiley, school nurse at Federalsburg Elementary School, was recognized at the November Board of Education meeting for earning her National Board Certification for school nursing.

Supervisor of Health Services Jennifer Yost introduced Ms. Tiley and explained the rigors of earning this certification. She shared that Ms. Tiley joined the Caroline Family in 2021, at the height of COVID. “With all the rules and contract tracing,” Ms. Yost said, “Kali probably wondered what she’d gotten herself into, but she found her niche.” She added that Ms. Tiley’s professionalism and commitment to the students and staff were very much appreciated.

President Wayman offered congratulations, and noted how much Ms. Tiley loved the children of Federalsburg and how much they loved her. Dr. Simmons added that “we are thrilled to have you there.”

Ms. Tiley earned her Master’s in nursing, and has been in the profession for 13 years. In 2024, she was a Caroline County Support Person of the Year finalist.

National Board Certification for school nursing, designated as the NCSN credential, is a voluntary certification that validates a school nurse's advanced knowledge, competence, and commitment to the specialty. Administered by the National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN), it sets a national standard for the profession, demonstrating expertise in the unique health needs of students.
