At the May Board of Education meeting, the Board approved two  administrative appointments:

Nicolas Liles, Coordinator of Network Services – Supervisor of Technology Jason Wielgosz requested approval of Mr. Liles for the coordinator position. Mr. Wielgosz explained that due to the impending retirement of longtime coordinator Mark Cauffman, interviews were held to fill the position. Mr. Liles emerged as the ideal candidate due to his extensive experience as an Information Technology (IT) Manager involved with system level IT, cybersecurity, and project management. In addition, his enthusiasm for the school system and strong ties to the community were clear. Mr. Liles is a graduate of Shore Leadership and has served in volunteer leadership positions locally.

Peggy Wittman, Coordinator of Special Education – Supervisor of Special Education Erica McDonald requested approval of Ms. Wittman for a coordinator position. Ms. McDonald explained that there were two coordinators in Special Education, and Ms. Wittman was the ideal candidate for the one currently open position. She has been with the Caroline family since 2009, serving in several capacities. Since 2001, Ms. Wittman has been a teacher specialist for secondary transition services, and has been instrumental in working with community partners to support successful outcomes for graduates. She has also represented CCPS on Eastern Shore and state committees, along with serving on the Caroline County Education Association. Ms. McDonald added that Ms. Wittman is well known to students, staff, and families.

The Board approved both position appointments effective July 1, 2025.
