Anabel Munguia Matamoros, a senior at Colonel Richardson High School, was chosen for a Maryland ELL Family Involvement Network (MELLFIN) Scholarship this year. The MELLFIN Scholarships are awarded annually to current or former English as a Second Language students in Maryland who are currently seniors in high school and have demonstrated a commitment to attend college or a post-secondary career training program.
Anabel was the only student from the Eastern Shore to receive this scholarship. She plans to attend Chesapeake College to become a nurse and provide compassionate care to the elderly.
She was presented the scholarship at the annual MELLFIN Conference in April.
