The Support Staff Luncheon recently celebrated the hard work and dedication of the team throughout the year but particularly over the summer.

Director of Operations Bill Mengel shared that over 30 summer projects were completed, including a new outdoor classroom and stormwater management initiative at DES. Despite the challenges of the River Road and Route 16 closures, operations continued smoothly. A new baseball field at NCHS was also completed, offering improved facilities for athletes.

The toughest winter in years was successfully navigated, ensuring schools remained safe and open as much as possible. New vans were purchased to improve transportation, and cleaning robots were added to enhance cleanliness. Over 100,000 meals were provided over the summer, supporting students and families.

In addition, the energy management program is ahead of schedule, and cybersecurity has been strengthened through phishing awareness training for staff.

“Looking ahead, the focus remains on moving the needle, staying positive, and striving for excellence,” Mr. Mengel said. “Thanks to everyone for their hard work – you guys rock!”
