We are waiting on guidance from the Maryland State Department of Education for this answer. Information will be updated as soon as we have an answer.
Revision Assistant is an online revision tool for students. It allows students to submit responses to teacher-assigned writing prompts, receive instant feedback, and share their work and revisions with teachers. Signal checks provide feedback whenever students need it and helps them understand how to improve their work before they turn it in.
Middle school students have used Revision Assistant several times this year and are familiar with this platform. This is a separate program and is being used in addition to i-Ready in middle school. While i-Ready addresses reading and vocabulary, Revision Assistant provides opportunities to work on writing skills.
Middle School Directions for Logging in to Revision Assistant
- Visit https://www.revisionassistant.com/#/login
- Scroll down to log in with Google
- Go to your ELA teacher’s classroom
- Select the writing assignment
Teachers may send students an email with a link to a Zoom meeting. To join the meeting:
- Click on the link in the email.
- A box will pop up asking if Zoom can access your computer's microphone and camera. Click 'Allow'.
- You will then be in the Zoom meeting.
- Make sure your volume is turned up on your computer.
Please note: If you click 'Cancel', you will need tech support to assist a restart. Please be sure to click 'Allow' the first time Zoom asks to access your microphone/video.
Protocols for Video Conferencing:
Zoom should be treated like a classroom! Protocols to remember:
- Be on time if you have a scheduled meeting with your teacher.
- Find a quiet place, free from distraction (siblings, pets, televisions, other devices).
- Maintain respect in both speaking, writing and appearance (school
appropriate clothing). - Do not eat or drink while in front of the camera.
- Do not film, record or share content.
If your child's teacher is using Google Classroom, the teacher or administrator will send you an email invitation asking if you want to receive Guardian Summaries. These summaries show your child's progress, status of assignments, and general class activity. Once signed up, you may choose how often your receive emails.
Note: Students must be signing into Google classroom with their school Gmail account in order for you to receive summaries.
1. Go to: clever.com/in/carolinecps.
2. Your username is your school email:
Example: [email protected]
Be sure to use your child’s name as it is shown in PowerSchool.
3. Your password is:
The initials of your school and your school ID# (lunch number*)
Example: DES123456
4. Once logged in, you are in the Clever platform which contains apps used by the student. The apps are specific to the student's skill level and need. For daily reading and math instruction, click on the iReady icon.
Please note:
*If your child does not know his or her lunch number, please log into your PowerSchool account**; your child’s lunch number will be next to their name.
Note: The PowerSchool mobile app will not provide access to the lunch number. You must use a browser such as Chrome or Firefox.
**If you have not yet created a PowerSchool account, email [email protected] with the student's name and school, and information will be emailed back as soon as possible.
Middle school students enrolled in courses that receive high school credit (Spanish I, Algebra I) will use Google Classroom and the APEX online platform.
If you do not have access to reliable internet at home, paper packets of work are available through your school.
Also, CCPS now has internet available in all school parking lots. We know this is not ideal, it is an option for now.
Due to the closure, the 3rd quarter ended on March 13th. Report cards are scheduled to be mailed from all schools on April 16.
