Electronic cigarettes are becoming more popular with students. The myth is that they are safer than cigarettes. E-cigarettes still contain nicotine and are highly addictive. The devices heat a liquid and produce an aerosol that is inhaled. The truth is the long-term health effects are unknown.
Some of the more popular models resemble a USB flash drive or a pen. Electronic cigarettes are known by a variety of names including e-cigs, e-hookahs, mods, vape pens, vapes, or tank systems. While it is illegal to purchase these products under the age of 18, school age kids are using them.
The top selling brand of e-cigarette is called JUUL. One JUUL pod contains as much nicotine as 20 regular cigarettes! The devices are small-easy for kids to hide and do not have an offensive order.
