CCPS Special Education staff held the third annual Staff Appreciation Banquet, sponsored by the Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC), at North Caroline High School in April.
Prior to the celebration, families were asked to nominate one CCPS employee who made a positive impact on their student with special needs during the past year. Among those recognized were special education and regular classroom teachers, specialist teachers, and administrators.
At the event, attended by over 170 people, several local agencies and service providers were on hand to give guests information about available services. Families were invited to participate in the current Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey.
Mr. Gayland Carlisle, member of the SECAC committee, served as master of ceremonies for the event. Elizabeth (Twigg) Anthony, CCPS director of special programs, welcomed guests and introduced each of the honorees. “This is such a special night for those who are being recognized,” Ms. Anthony said. “We truly appreciate the families who show their love and appreciation for a staff member they feel has made a difference in their child’s life.”
