Raising A Reader Program Expands to Kindergarten

<< Back to CCPS News

Kindergarten students will soon be receiving a Raising A Reader bag each week filled with great books to take home and share with their families. Families spend the week enjoying the books and reading with their kindergartener, and on a day designated by the teacher, the bag is sent back to class to be refilled for another week. The program has been a big hit with Pre-K students, and CCPS is happy to be able to offer it to kindergarteners too.

Raising A Reader helps develop and reinforce early learning skills through investigation, critical thinking, imagination, and meaningful and fun family experiences. Children who are read to benefit from healthy brain development, family bonding, and increased literacy skills – all proven elements for lifetime success!
