Message to the Class of 2020 from Dr. Saelens

To the Class of 2020:

One of the most heartbreaking aspects of the school closure has been the interruption of your senior year, a time that should be filled with celebration, excitement, friends and school staff. I am profoundly sorry that is not what you are experiencing right now. Know that your grief is shared by your school family and everyone involved in your education.

It is unlikely that a large gathering will be permitted before the scheduled end of the school year. Because of that, I have asked your principal to convene a small committee made up of senior class leaders, parents, the senior class advisor, and your senior guidance counselor to discuss alternate ways to honor and celebrate the Class of 2020.

Please understand that all proposals will need to be reviewed and approved at the Board level. However, my hope is that this will give you some measure of making the culmination of your senior year truly your own.

Best Regards,

Dr. Saelens
