LMS National Junior Honor Society Hosts Pet Supply Drive

Lockerman Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Society recently donated 580 items, including pet food, treats, toys, and cleaning supplies, to the Caroline County Humane Society.

Focusing on the NJHS pillar of ‘service’, the members discussed the various needs of the local community and settled on a pet supply drive. In order to maximize donations, they created flyers and posters and used the school’s morning announcements to advertise the month-long drive. According to Jaclyn Murray, teacher and NJHS advisor, two cars were needed to transport all the donations to the humane society.

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Lockerman Middle School’s NJHS has 33 members.
