Just a few short weeks ago, the Caroline County Board of Education entrusted me with the position of interim superintendent, a role I was honored to accept. I’ve been a part of the CCPS family for over 20 years, as a teacher, administrator and since 2014, a director. In that span of time I’ve also become the spouse of a teacher and the father of CCPS students. I believe, as do my colleagues, that Caroline County is a special place with the school system at the heart of it. Every day, our families and community entrust us to value, respect and educate their children, and we all take that responsibility to heart.
No one can dispute this has been a challenging school year for everyone. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved – administrators, teachers, support staff in every department, our students, families and community – we have been able to bring students back into the classroom and onto the playing fields, while still maintaining a virtual teaching environment for those that want or need it. We are all proud of this extraordinary accomplishment.
With the end of the school year finish line in sight, we must keep our guard up and continue the good practices that ensure classrooms, schools, and playing fields remain open. Now more than ever, please remember to keep your student home if he or she:
- is awaiting COVID test results
- has tested positive for COVID
- has been quarantined for any reason
- has symptoms of COVID
Please remind your student that good friends, good classmates, and good teammates take care of one another in many different ways. Helping each other stay healthy and in school matters! Of all the resources we enjoy in Caroline, your continued support in this area will be the one most valued this spring.
