Guest Readers Welcomed by FES Students

As a part of Read Across America Day, Federalsburg Elementary School invited guests into the classrooms to read to students. Guest readers were encouraged to bring their own favorite book to share but were also able to choose a book from the FES library.

In addition to CCPS central office guests, FES also welcomed Officer McNeill from the Federalsburg Police Department, Amanda Courie and Mina Pincus from the Caroline County Public Library, Alice Meredith from Provident State Bank, and Joanna Durando, the FES PTA president. Readers were shown to their classrooms by fifth grade escorts.

Guest reader and superintendent of schools Dr. Patricia Saelens brought two of her own books, Be Kind and The Giving Tree, which carry similar messages about kindness. She stated, “If we can teach our youngest students to be kind, we will reap those benefits forever. Reading to the students is always such a great experience, and I commend the FES staff for a wonderful event.”
