Faye Harris, Greensboro Elementary School (GES) cafeteria manager, has been chosen as Caroline County’s School Nutrition Manager of the Year. She was recognized at the October board of education meeting for this accomplishment. Beth Brewster, Supervisor of Food Services, introduced Ms. Harris and stated that she had been the manager at GES for 12 years, and always refers to students as “her babies.”  Brewster also shared that Harris heads a highly productive and successful staff, and that she has helped in making design decisions for new GES cafeteria.

In addition to Brewster, on hand to celebrate the award was GES Principal Dawn Swann, Assistant Principals, Kaitlyn Curren and Mary Jo Kerr, and cafeteria staff Marsha Kibler, Jenny Porter, Heather Sauerhoff, Angel Seiler, and Kathy Whitson.

This award makes Ms. Harris eligible for the Maryland School Nutrition Association (MdSNA) Manager of the Year award which will be announced at their annual banquet in later this month.  The MdSNA Manager of the Year Award recognizes an MdSNA member manager who has made a notable contribution to the success of the school meals program in his/her school. The award is a great opportunity for counties to recognize a manager and bestow deserved recognition for a job well done and for others around the state to be inspired with ideas for their own programs.
