English Language (EL) teachers at Greensboro Elementary School organized an afternoon full of activities to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Various presentations were made about clothing, music, art, books, and physical education. Students created maracas, Guatemalan kites, and paper flowers used to decorate for Day of the Dead and Day of the Dead Calaca. Tenchi’s, a local restaurant, showed students how to make fruit water. Students from North Caroline High School performed a dance, and one student talked about her Quincenera.
Holly Sump, EL teacher at GES, said that the students really enjoyed the celebration and in particular, Hispanic students were happy to be able to share their culture with classmates.
