Five winning entries were chosen from over 300 posters in the #Choose2BKind poster contest, sponsored by Choose Civility Caroline committee. The winning artists are:

Grand prize: Laura Eastland, North Caroline High School

  • Grades K-2 – Cora Wood, Ridgely Elementary School
  • Grades 3-5, Alishba Noor, Federalsburg Elementary School
  • Grades 6-8, Alexandra Kitt, Lockerman Middle School
  • Grades 9-12, Amanda Dennis, Colonel Richardson High School

Artists were asked to design a poster illustrating the theme of how kindness creates community, and to use their imagination, creativity, and talent to visually show others how little things people do every day make their community stronger. Judges based their ratings on adherence to theme, originality, creativity and effective use of media. They also considered how the poster would look when reproduced.

All posters were on display and winners recognized at a reception at the Fretterd Community Center. The grand prize winner received a $50 gift card; category winners received $25 gift cards. All winning posters will be reproduced for distribution. Award-winning posters and all the other submissions will be on display in public buildings throughout the county.

Choose Civility Caroline is an initiative between the Caroline County Public Schools and the Caroline County Public Library. Partners assisting with this event were the Caroline County Arts Council, Caroline County Recreation, and the Caroline County Commissioners.
