The 42nd Annual Caroline County Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Teachers Can Help (TCH) organization, was recently held. The first place winner was Shaleah Fountain from Federalsburg Elementary; second place was Jeffrey Lin, also from Federalsburg Elementary; and third place went to Liam Wallace from Greensboro Elementary.

All five Caroline elementary schools held their own spelling bees to determine the top three students who would participate in the countrywide competition. Winners received cash awards of $50 for first place, $30 for second place, and $20 for third place. Students went through a nail-biting 10 rounds before Fountain emerged victorious.
