Custodial and maintenance teams recently came together for their annual in-service and luncheon.
During the in-service portion of the meeting, Safety and Security Coordinator Rico Gestole provided a crisis training presentation, and Supervisor of Human Resources Debbie Siachos shared information and updates.
Following the in-service, Assistant Superintendent Milton Nagel spoke with staff. He quoted Sam Ewing, former professional baseball player, who said, “Hard work spotlights the character of people. Some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all.” He then thanked the staff for “turning up every day” to ensure safe and clean buildings, cleared parking lots and sidewalks, and environments that are healthy for students and staff. Mr. Nagel added that the custodians are on the front line of the schools. “When a guest comes into the building, the first impression is a lasting one. We take great pride in how our schools look, and brag about what you all do every day.” He also thanked them for being role models to students who are paying attention to what they do and how they do it.
Board of Education Vice President Kathy Dill and Supervisor of Plant Operations Brett Morton both thanked the staff for their hard work and dedication to their schools and students.
Following presentations, staff enjoyed a luncheon featuring a traditional Thanksgiving menu, provided by CCPS Food Services.
