CRHS Student’s Artwork Chosen for Holiday Card

Colonel Richardson High School student Cohen Carels’ artwork has been chosen for the annual Caroline County Public Schools holiday card.

Each year, CCPS art teachers provide students the opportunity to produce and submit artwork for the school system’s holiday card. Submissions are narrowed down to approximately a dozen finalists and, in keeping with long-standing tradition, the superintendent then choses the winner.

At the December board of education meeting, Supervisor of Instruction Renee Hesson unveiled Cohen’s artwork, and presented him with a certificate. Cohen’s family, CRHS art teacher Victoria Donovan, and CRHS Principal Nikki VonDenBosch were also in attendance.

Interim Superintendent Derek L. Simmons said he enjoyed judging the entries this year. “There was very stiff competition and it was not easy choosing from so many great designs,” he said. “However, Cohen’s piece had so much personality, it jumped out at me. I’m thrilled this design will be on the CCPS card.”
