The Colonel Richardson High School (CRHS) Spirit of the Revolution Marching Band, led by drum majors Gillian Cheezum and Kendall Blunt, opened their competition season by competing in the Tournament of Bands at Middletown High School in Delaware.

CRHS competed in the Open class and received a score of 72.8. The title of their show was “Escape Velocity” and featured four movements. They performed a host of songs that included Rocket Man by Elton John, Space Oddity by David Bowie, and Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra.

The marching band also competed in a second contest at Queen Anne’s County High School where they scored a 74.650 in the 1A ‘O’ class.

Tournament contests are held year-round throughout a nine-state area in the mid-Atlantic region. They provide a competitive arena for marching bands, and hundreds of bands compete in field shows from September through November. Students from Caroline County complete in Region 9 which encompasses Delaware and Eastern Maryland.
