The NFHS Coach of the Year Award is an annual award first started in 1981-1982. Each state nominates and a committee formed of coaches and state Athletic Directors select coaches from each sport category to represent their state. Their names are then passed on to the NFHS for selection of sectional, regional and national awards. The announcement of these awards will come from the NFHS in late January.
