CCTC Culinary Arts Recipe Chosen for Governor’s Annual Cook-Out

For the second year in a row, Caroline staff and students have submitted a recipe that will be featured at the Governor Hogan’s 12th Annual Buy Local Cookout, which celebrates Maryland’s Buy Local Challenge Week, July 20 to 28. This past spring, Gov. Hogan asked for original recipes that highlight the diversity of Maryland products. More than 40 recipes were submitted and 16 were selected.

David Murray, Assistant Foodservice Operations Manager at the Caroline Culinary Arts Center and Caroline Career & Technology Center (CCTC) Culinary Arts students Dalesandro Santizo Roblero and Rebekah White will provide “Eastern Shore Chicken Salad,” with producers Eileen Simmons of Clayton Farms in Caroline County for tarragon and celery, Bernie Fowler of Farming4Hunger in Charles County for sweet corn, Bryan Williams of Red Acres in Kent County for butter bibb lettuce and Delmarva Poultry Industry Inc. for chicken.

“It’s always an honor to represent Caroline County and our Culinary Arts Center at this event,” Murray said. “In an area fortunate enough to be surrounded by so many delicious ingredients, it is important to support small business and local producers.”
