Milton Nagel, CCPS Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, recently presented at the general session of the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) Conference in Baltimore. Nagel, along with Tom Strasburger from PublicSchoolWORKS, provided an address entitled School Safety Impacts All of Us which explored how critical all employees are to ensuring school safety, and how to improve the safety of everyone entering school buildings.
Nagel also presented Building a Complete Safety Program to Reduce Risk: Developing and Managing a School (District) Safety Preparedness Strategy which shared strategies for school safety in the areas of prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
At the same conference, Beth Brewster, CCPS Supervisor of Food Services, co-presented a panel on Bioterrorism and Food Safety, which dealt with the importance of food defense, the complexities of the school food chain, and food defense best practices.
Superintendent Patricia Saelens said, “We are very proud of the fact that even though CCPS is a relatively small school system in Maryland, our staff is routinely called upon to share their expertise with colleagues across the state and on the national level.”
