Caroline County high school seniors attended a recent hiring event at the 4-H Park in Denton. Students were given the opportunity to meet with local employers, learn about job and career possibilities and, in some instances, complete an application and interview.
Superintendent Dr. Derek L. Simmons welcomed students and thanked Director Debbie Bowden and Business Development Coordinator Kendall Teague from Caroline County Economic Development for their work in organizing the event. He also thanked the employers for taking the time to attend and offer students employment and career opportunities.
Dr. Simmons encouraged students to visit every employer as one may hold the key to their future. “You have career opportunities that can begin today in this very room,” he said. “Commit to showing up, putting your best foot forward, show grit and determination, and you’ll find yourself on a successful path.”
Director Debbie Bowden called the day a win-win for everyone. “The students got a chance to learn about job opportunities throughout the area that they otherwise may not have known. The businesses got a chance to meet and talk with young adults who are entering the workforce.”
