Jill Benton, accountant in the Caroline County Public Schools Finance Department, has successfully completed the certification process and is now a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
The CPA license is the accounting profession’s highest standard of competence, a symbol of achievement and assurance of quality. To earn the prestige associated with the CPA license, one is required to demonstrate knowledge and competence by meeting high educational standards, passing the CPA exam, and completing a specific amount of public accounting experience.
A native of Caroline County, Benton graduated from North Caroline High School in 2013. She attended Salisbury University where she doubled majored in Accounting and Information Systems, earning a degree in both. Benton was hired by CCPS in July of 2017.
CCPS Comptroller Erin Thornton stated, “The CPA exam is one of the most difficult licensing exams given, which makes us extremely proud of Jill’s accomplishment. She brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the job, and has quickly become an integral part of the finance team and the CCPS family.”
