The Bayside Conference released a statement today regarding student athletes engaging in pre-season conditioning this year. Caroline County Public Schools supports the position taken by the Bayside Conference, and intends to fully comply with the conditions as stated.
Their statement reads:
The Bayside Conference with the support of local superintendents, believes that the safety of student athletes is the highest priority at this time and that no Bayside member high school athletic programs will engage in face-to-face pre-season conditioning until July 1, 2020 or later, and until the following conditions are met:
- proper guidelines and protocol for a safe return to athletic participation are provided by the MPSSAA, and
- approval of the Return to Play plans by the local school system stakeholder recovery committees, as described in Maryland Together: Maryland’s Recovery Plan for Education (June 2020).
