Teams from both Colonel Richardson Middle School and Lockerman Middle School recently competed in the Maryland Qualifier FIRST LEGO League Competition.

Lockerman Middle School sent four teams to the event, with three earning trophies. The 7th grade team, Microwave of Doom, won the Judges Award for their teamwork and effort. The 8th grade team, Cosmic Penguins, won first place for Robot Performance and earned a slot at the Maryland State Competition at UMBC in February.

Colonel Richardson Middle School had two teams competing in the event, the Cosmic Colonels and the Space Cougars. The Cosmic Colonels brought home the Core Values trophy which awards exceptional teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is a result of an exciting alliance between FIRST and the LEGO Company. Guided by adult mentors and their own imaginations, students solve real-world engineering challenges and develop important life skills. It provides students age 9-14 with a hands-on, interactive robotics program in a sports-like atmosphere.
