Caroline County middle schoolers recently attended the second annual Ag and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Summit at Salisbury University (SU), held as a part of the Maryland STEM Festival. The purpose of the event is to demonstrate the connection between agriculture and STEM through demos, exhibits, and panel discussions. The event included a welcome from SU’s president Charles A. Wight, discussion panels with SU professors, table exhibits with representatives from UMES, USDA, MDA, Morgan State, Stevenson, Grain Growers, MAEF, and the UM School of Agriculture, and the unveiling of a new Ag & STEM video game. Forty-three students from Colonel Richardson and Lockerman Middle Schools participated in the summit.
