Yesterday, October 1, a sleeping child was left unattended on a CCPS bus. Subsequently the child awoke, exited the bus, and was found by a citizen who brought the child to school.
Superintendent Patty Saelens stated, “We deeply regret that this happened, and are profoundly grateful that no physical harm came to the child. We are also indebted to the citizen who reacted quickly and responsibly in bringing the child to safety.”
This did not happen purposely or intentionally; however, we take full responsibility for the incident. We are working with the child’s family to provide follow up services as needed. Additionally, we are in the process of reviewing the incident in its entirety and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance, and we are committed to ensuring that safety.
