Teacher of the Year Shaughnessy Harris was called out of her classroom last Friday and asked to join administrators outside of Preston Elementary School. Much to her surprise, Superintendent Patty Saelens escorted her to a brand new 2020 Ford Edge vehicle, and Assistant Superintendent Milton Nagel presented her with the keys.

Later that same day, Support Employee of the Year Sharon Hollingsworth was told she needed to join staff on the stadium bleachers for an important ‘drill’. She was also surprised when Dr. Saelens called her down to the track, and Mr. Nagel drove up in a brand new 2020 Ford Escape and handed her the keys.

Free use of a vehicle is one of the benefits of being named Teacher or Support Employee of the Year for Caroline County. Both cars are courtesy of an arrangement with Preston Automotive Group. The recipients are given a vehicle for the entire year and have the option to purchase it, rather than turning it back in at the end.

“We are fortunate to have a great partner in Preston Automotive Group,” stated Mr. Nagel, “and appreciate their helping to make our Teacher and Support Services awards very special.”
